A Ticket With A Culture Shift

These core values embody our dedication to transforming ASUWT into an organization that serves the students.

Transparency

Transparency is essential in fostering trust and open communication between ASUWT and the student body. ASI is committed to ensuring that our actions, decisions, and processes are clear, easily accessible, and understandable for all students.

How We Have Upheld Transparency

ASI ramped up the organization’s social media presence to better communicate with students about important decisions and issues affecting them. When something impacts UW Tacoma students, we made sure they heard it from us first!

Consistent Updates To Student Body

Recorded
Public Meetings

ASI recorded and published every Executive and Senate meeting so students could watch what was said and done at their leisure.

ASI hosted quarterly town halls where we reported directly on the progress of our initiatives. Students had space to ask questions, give feedback, and hold us accountable.

Inclusivity

Inclusivity is at the heart of our mission to create a supportive and welcoming environment for all students at UWT. ASI strives to ensure that our student government represents and celebrates the diverse perspectives and experiences of our campus community.

How We Have Upheld Inclusivity

Through our RSO Committee, ASI established better relationships with student organizations to understand and uplift their needs. We helped connect RSOs with the right resources and included their voices in campus conversations.

A More Representative
ASUWT Senate

Pending student approval of a ASUWT Constitution amendment in 2025, the ASUWT Senate will double in size, adding new seats for First-Year, Transfer, Court 17, First-Gen, and Veteran student representatives. This change ensures more student communities have a seat at the table, not just students from academic units.

A Commitment to
Equity & Inclusion in
Practice

ASI is introducing a Director of Equity and Accessibility in 2025 to expand our focus on Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility work within student government and across campus. This role will ensure equity is embedded in everything ASUWT does, not just in words, but in action.

Accountability

Accountability is key to ensuring that our ASUWT is responsible, effective, and dedicated to serving the best interests of students at UW Tacoma. ASI pledges to uphold high standards in all our actions and decisions to ensure that YOUR student fees are well spent.

How We Have Upheld Accountability

Governing
Document Changes

ASI passed a full ASUWT Constitution revision in 2024, the first in 10 years. That change included new clauses to enforce internal accountability and close loopholes that previously allowed student government members to be paid without showing up or doing the work necessary to support student needs. Students holding these positions MUST DO their expected work and show up for their peers!

ASI commitment extends to the student body, not just within the organization. That’s why we’ve consistently surveyed students throughout our terms, to guide our actions by your voice, not just the loudest few voices few students.

Student Supported Action Only

Sustainability

ASI is committed to building a strong foundation during our time in office that ensures the continued success and effectiveness of ASUWT for years to come.

How We Have Upheld Sustainability

There are many structural and systemic changes that ASI led to change ASUWT in order to become a functional organization that had significant impact on students.
