Experienced Leaders
Get Real Results
The Allied Students Initiative is made up of experienced student leaders who know how to get things done and have a proven track record, and new voices ready to bring bold, fresh energy to the table. We've built strong relationships with campus administration, community partners, and legislators, and we will use that access to drive real, student-centered change.
We are here to support your success by representing students, advancing current initiatives, and developing community that lasts.
Represent
ASI will increase student representation at all decision-making tables across campus, especially at the highest administrative levels (ex: Executive Leadership Team meetings).
This will ensure that students are directly involved in conversations that shape campus policy and priorities.
Increase Student Representation and Decision-Making Power
While the ASI has made strides in making ASUWT more visible and transparent to the student body over the last two years, we can do better.
We aim to further transparency by helping students better understand the role of student government. This includes making information about ASUWT’s actions, meetings, impact, and individual student government representatives more accessible.

Increase Government Transparency
ASI will elevate the student experience in all legislative spaces. As the future of higher education is uncertain, it is critical that students are seen by our lawmakers. We will increase student visibility in advocacy efforts during the legislative session to ensure student priorities are heard.

Continuing Existing Initiatives for Lasting Impact
ASI will continue the work of our three taskforces: the Food Equity & Basic Needs Taskforce, the Inclusive Access Taskforce, and the Campus Development Taskforce. Each of these has a three-year strategic plan, and ASI is committed to overseeing and advancing their work to ensure progress continues in these key areas:
The Food Equity & Basic Needs Taskforce focuses on addressing hunger, housing insecurity, reducing transportation costs, and other basic needs resource access on campus. We will support ongoing work like the food pantry advisory council and efforts to secure more basic needs funding for students.
The Inclusive Access Taskforce works to make UW Tacoma a place where every student feels they belong. This includes addressing cultural and physical barriers that impact student inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility.
The Campus Development Taskforce ensures students are involved in decisions about how our campus evolves. We plan to continue advocating for accessible, student-centered spaces that reflect the needs of our growing and diverse student population.

ASI will continue building advocacy efforts outside of the taskforces. We remain committed to collecting student input and turning it into action that reflects the real priorities of UW Tacoma students.
ASI will Continue Listening to Students
Develop
ASI will continue to expand legislative and civic advocacy opportunities for students both inside and outside ASUWT. This includes supporting students in engaging with issues that affect them at the local and state level.

Provide Opportunities to Students to Advocate
Uplift UW Tacoma Student Concerns to our Federal Government
ASI plan to expand our legislative efforts to the federal level in partnership with the Washington Student Association (WSA) and United States Students Association (USSA). This will allow UW Tacoma students to be represented in federal conversations on education and equity.
Partnerships to Advance Student Interests and Employment Opportunities
ASI will explore partnerships with community businesses that both support student professional development and advance ASI-led initiatives.
These collaborations will include internship and volunteer opportunities that connect students with local organizations, while also supporting efforts like food insecurity relief, campus events, and resource distribution through in-kind donations or service sponsorships.
